ANIMALS OF THE PLANET

If I call you an animal, would you find it offensive? It’s funny how most of the times it seems, but in real terms we are animals; well at least according to the scientists. Ideally, it depends on the theory that you believe. Join me as I take you through my new blog about animals. We have several theories that try and demystify that tricky question. If indeed it is correct tens of thousands of years ago we existed as monkeys or chimpanzees, sounds obnoxious huh?

Let make it for you a more natural pill to swallow; we have had all different life forms from plants and other animals transform over time. This clearly shows that there has been an evolution. We, as human beings, are not exceptions to that evolution.
As you try to digest that piece of information let me now take you through the classes of animals that we have. We have very many categories of animals; it all depends on how you want to classify them. The most common classification covers at least five groups of animals. That is what even the kids are taught at school. We have the mammals, reptiles, amphibians, Birds and finally fish not to forget arthropods. God's creation is just amazing; I mean all these classes of animals and each of them have distinctive features. Wow! Great indeed.
We have around 4000 types of mammals. Is that so many? Well, many are relative I would dare say. Human beings, that is you and me are part of the mammals. Mammals are warm-blooded. What this means is the fact that whether you go to places where it is very cold or sweltering your body is designed in such a way that it can maintain some particular almost constant temperature. Some of the other animals besides human beings that fall in this category are Dolphins, cows, goats, sheep, and Monkeys, among many others.

If you thought that we have so many types of mammals, well think again. There are at least ten thousand species of birds in the world. Some distinctive features make birds the creatures they are. Is it a color, feathers, or eggs? Not really, because we have several other types of animals which have the same features like those. Feathers are a distinctive feature when it comes to Birds. Some of the roles that feathers play are flying, steering the birds and keeping them warm, especially when the weather is rather cold.

Have you heard about owls? It is believed that they are birds of a bad omen; that if you get to find that one is just resting on your roof could pass way away. I think when it comes to some stories, it's all about your faith and it is just but a superstition.

Ten thousand is a huge number. Well, scientists are very good at their work, and they never sleep. Statistics from the aquatic scientists show that we have around 24000 species of fish around the world. I bet you have been to the hotel taking some delicious meals with fishes the main ingredient.

Did you bother to ask what species of fish were eating? Not many know which fish they are eating and so long as it's palatable, I mean, why not just bite and enjoy your meal. With the whale shark as the largest of the fish family, the characteristic features of fish are gills and Fins not forgetting the fact that they live in water.
The world we live in is a fascinating planet and a magnificent piece of God's creation. Among all the many animals we have on the earth, how many do you know about? It is high time that we visited animal parks orphanages and played a part in safeguarding the endangered species.
